I finally got a cover shot on a glossy print mag so I'm pretty stoked. One of my shots from Horna's gig in Seattle last November was used for this. Circulation is pretty low but what the hell. One thing that I thought was pretty cool is that the magazine claims full color covers but used my black and white image :)

The lines aren't in the magazine cover, they are the fault of my cruddy scanner.

Finland is the place to stay clear if you want good compensation for music-related photography. I won't get into it here, but the situation is rather astounding actually.

Miasma, is (was last time I checked) completely voluntarily run magazine, nobody, including the writers, editors, lay-out designers or photographers get paid (It of course may be that the band paid for this photo).

Yep, Miasma is still all volunteer. However, the bands label wanted the cover so bad that they took care of me well.

Although I can't read it (my Finnish skills do not exist)the mag is laid out very well and looks nice, lots of color photos throughout and almost no advertising. With no ad revenue and the slick production I can't see them making much money.

They also concentrate specifically on mariginal/extreme/cult metal, so they do not aim for as many readers as possible, as such.

I don't care for metal. I am UTTERLY THRILLED you got this cover! Maybe I'm just too close to dying and this genre scares me a bit. :-)

Love the lighting and for some reason the texture on the shirt pops out to me. I like it :)
