So I was thinking, it would be nice to have a safe to protect my images/documents and other things. Does anybody have one, know someone that has one? I was thinking put it my closet. I have insurance on my gear but today the wife decided not to lock the door to our apt. It got me wondering.
What do you guys think?
This one retails for $150.00

Be sure to secure it to a stud or the floor which isn't really easy in an apartment. It doesn't do you any good if someone can take some where to open at their leisure.
Also that's not very big, are you looking to store camera gear in there? That seems like a pain, my stuff is in my camera back and I take it with me everyday. It wouldn't last long for me if I had to load & unload my gear everyday.

Cant do the whole stud or floor thing. The thing is, I don't need my gear everyday right now.

Yeah landlords don't appreciate big holes in walls or floors.
I'm just thinking if it can't be secured, someone could just pick it up be gone with it. Even if it weighs 100lbs, if there might be something good in there it will be worth hauling out and drilling for the next few days.
I'm thinking a cheap wireless security system might be a better way to go and it could help protect the stuff that doesn't fit like your PC & TV. Even if it's just a sounder and doesn't call the police it could scare an intruder away and alert your neighbors. Although if your wife doesn't lock the door, then arming a security system may not happen either.
