Hi All -

I went to the 2005 auto show today at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC. Although I still have a lot to go in post, i thought I'd share some photos that are already finished. All shots were taken with my 300D + Tamron 28-75. Everything was shot in Av mode with available light. Shutter speeds were roughly 1/30s - 1/200s, ISOs varied from 200-800. I had to run some NR filters as the 400/800 shots did have some noise.

Oh yeah! I purchased a Hoya Circular Polarizing Filter on the way to this event. I honestly had no clue what I was doing wth it . . . I basically just turned it until I saw the light reflections dim on the car. But considering I lost 1-2 stops of light with CP and had to work with difficult shutter speeds, high ISO, and people everywhere:rolleyes: , I thought some of my pictures surprisingly came out really nice. I hope you think so too. Comments and Criticism are always welcome. . . . Enjoy!

Interested in the 3rd photo with the Dodge Ram logo in the background. Cannot make out the badge on the grill so I will ask - what is it?

Looks like a Chrysler badge to me. I believe that's the Chyrsler Firepower concept.

Hey All -

Thank you all for the nice comments!

Sorry that I didn't reply right away, as I have been out of the house all day, but anyway:

amosher, I honestly did not take a look at what that car was, so I wouldn't be able to tell you. Looks like HJMinard knows bettter than I do.

norcal99/rulon69, Yeah, the Shelby mustang was pretty cool . . .I think i took a couple more of them, but not sure how they came out yet, as I haven't been able to get to the rest of the photos. If they are ok, i'll post them.

mills, yes, my M5 pics were probably the best ones of the lot . . . by the time I got to the BMW section, I was already in the comfortable photography groove.

Thanks again all . . . I'll post more later!

Mark, did you use a monopod or tripod at all? Echo everyone else here - top job, excellently done. Hand-holding at 1/30 must have been a challenge!

Thanks, stormy! No, i did not use a tripod. I brought a small one with me, but there were just too many people around to be able to open it up. Haha, yes, handholding 1/30 was tough, but it also helped that my subjects were standing perfectly stillhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif. You should see how many pictures I couldn't use because of camera shake and/or motion blur. Photoshop was also my best friend for this event . . . Lots of NR and USMhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/tongue3.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif
