430EX-II and 5D question

Hi all,

Can the original 5D fully control the 430EX-II, i.e., is there full in-camera capability to control the flash unit when mounted in the hotshoe? Just reading up on some literature and found that the 5D will control the 580EX and 550EX, but there's no mention of the 430EX-II.

Anyone with this combo shed any light?

That's because the literature was written before the 430exII was out. It will work wine.

It will work fine, but you can't set flash functions from within the 5D. You need a newer body (i.e., 50D or 5DII) to do that. Regardless, there is no reason not to use a 430EX II on a 5D.
