View Full Version : Problems with SX10 IS.

I've been taking a series of photos in either landscape or portrait and they've all come out fine. Very clear. But every time I take a picture in Program, no matter what setting I have it on, it comes out with an insane amount of noise.

I really don't understand what I'm doing to cause this, or how to prevent it. I've not experienced it with other cameras and it's actually a really big problem. Once I view the photos on the screen of the camera they look fine, so I'll go an entire day (like last night, and like today) and take maybe 200 photos and end up deleting almost the entire lot.

Can anybody help me with this?

It set the ISO to the highest available. You can set the ISO yourself in Program (not in full "Green Box" auto). Try something less than ISO 1600.

I had it set to Auto. Sigh. I have soooo many shots that are ruined because of this,

Run a series of test shots of the same thing using all the ISO settings to see how each comes out. Use brightly lit and dimly lit subjects.

Jon is right about this. I NEVER shoot in full auto (Green box) mode. I almost always shoot in "P" mode which is ALMOST the same as auto. However, it lets you make some selections such as picking the ISO you want to shoot at. I usually choose the lowest ISO value that I can shoot in under conditions.
