I am posting these images only to show that despite horrid lighting conditions in minor hockey rinks, you can salvage some OK results.

I was shooting the Vancouver Island Midget AA Championship, Game 3 of a 3 game series at our home rink, but unfortunately on our "darker" old barn of a rink where I normally always need 3200ISO anyway to get decent shots. Imagine my frustration when 5 minutes into the game, half the lights begin to short out and ultimately had to be left off because of the risk of fire in the 50 year old breaker box!! On the plus side, every other light was off so the lighting remained consistent across the ice but was, as you can imagine, awful. It was like shooting at dusk.

All images below were shot at 3200ISO and had to be bumped up at least +2.0 or more on the exposure setting in Lightroom. The first 5 images are probably from when the lights were good. The last 3 are definitely from when half were off. They are noisy as hell but I was able to salvage something out of it. Full set at www.cjscons.com/smha/feb28
