This was a stack of 40-1min. subs with 4 darks. Shot RAW, ISO 800.

Thx guys. That was a quick processing just to see what I got. I wanted to compare a lot of short subs to a few long ones to see any difference. At least on brighter objects, M42 anyway, the short subs seem to do a nicer job I think. (or maybe I'm getting better at processing??):confused:

If all your subs are good then use a program and stack them and you will get alot better picture and it will lessen the gradient and noise .

Deepskystacker does this, correct? (I think registax will do it as well if I'm not mistaken).

Yes, I used DSS on that shot. It was 40, 1 minute subs stacked. I have tried Registax as well, but it is a bit more complex to use. DSS is very simple and effective.
