Can someone tell me how to use Photoshop to squeeze parts of a photo? I've heard that it can make things smaller or larger as needed. Can it be done without creating distortion in the rest of the shot?

I'm trying to shrink down a mid section in a bikini photo. If my friend can't have a bikini body in person she's at least like to have one in her pictures. HELP. :-(

Thanks.

One way to do it is with the clone tool. Put the center of the cursor over the edge of her torso--where the torso overlaps the background. Selech a brush size of 20 - 60 pixels, depending on the resolution you are working with. Alt-click on that area. Now, move the cursor over the skin a little (toward the center of her torso) and clone the background and the edge of her torso over the area. By picking up the edge of the torso, you keep the transition from skin to background from looking off.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've been doing that, but sometimes the background is not something that's easily pasted over her (though it works well when the background is solid).

I have never acutally tried this myself so it may or may not work very effectively but you could try selecting the area of the waist using the lasso tool and then going to Filter - Distort - Pinch, then adjust the percentage accordingly and see what happens?

MGi Photosuite has a fun feature called stretch, but can also slim. It's a fun toy that works. Post the pic and see what we can do. I home with the flu and bored!

Right. You would also need to touch up the background. If you'd like to send me one, I'd experiment. It's something I've wanted to practice since I got photoshop for Xmas. But living in Minnesota, my wife won't be in a swim suit until July!

Yeah post the pic, lets see what we can all do with our different methods!

Thanks for the reponses. I'd like to post the picture, but I've made the mistake of asking for permission before knowing what the answer would be. I guess it's true what they say: it's always smarter to ask forgiveness than persmission. :-)

So what we need is someone that doesn't mind a picture that makes her fat posted to the Internet. Any volunteers?

It's not a girl, but a challenge none the less. Buff me up and make that fish bigger!
Have fun!
