Since this is day 2 of PMA, does that mean everything that is going to be announced has been? I was so hoping for an updated 400 f/5.6L IS.

This is day 1 of PMA.
Yesterday was just a "sneak peak" for the press, nothing special.
Today, everyone but Canon (as far as I know) have made their announcements. So tomorrow, will be Canon.

When I say everyone but Canon, I mean: HP, Epson, Nikon (Well, all I heard from them was there will be NO new dslr announcement), Sigma, Olympus, Panasonic, aaaand... Kodak. No Sony (that I heard), or Canon.

Maybe there is still hope

I personally say there is a very good chance of a new Canon 24-70mm.
I have nothing to really base that on, but, with the new Sigma 24-70 (people have already tested it, at PMA, and say it's a too close to call vs. the Canon), Canon really needs to step it up and come out with an upgrade.

Also, you can follow "Twitter" updates LIVE, from people at PMA, here:

Very good information, with sources, etc.

I do not think there was even a single case where C/N made any big announcement in the *middle* a trade show.

Face it, this is all you get. Stop dreaming.

HyperYagami.... Nothing has been said\heard\announced by Canon at PMA yet. Nothing.
There aren't even any pictures online of the Canon booth at PMA. So either the Canon booth is maybe in a section of PMA that will be opening tomorrow for meetings, announcements, etc. or Canon just doesn't have a booth (That is unheard of), or Canon will be making their announcements tomorrow.
They wanted to wait for everyone else to get done with theirs, so they can have the spotlight. Of course, it will be shared with Sony, if Sony is even there (which, chances are, they are there).

So, I'd say the chances of Canon keeping quiet all PMA long, is unheard of.
We aren't dreaming. We are waiting and predicting.

They have already announced some new P&S as well as two new T/S lenses.

I don't think we'll see any surprises, sorry...

They announced the new T/S lenses a few weeks ago...
They CAN still announce more.

And to The Hoff, that wasn't at PMA.

I understand what you guys are saying, that Canon just announced some stuff, but they can't go through PMA without anything else... haha....
idk, maybe I am just expecting too much.

I wonder if the slow down in the economy has anything to do with new replacement lens announcements..?

In other words, because the dealers already have stocks of old 400mm 5.6 and 100-400mm IS, 300mm f/4 IS etc. may be Canon's getting the feedback saying they won't take new models until they deplete the old inventory. Of course, that explanation doesn't quite work 100%, as the new 24mm TS-E II has been announced already, etc.

I suppose there will always be the population who wants the latest of anything, regardless of economy, so by that notion Canon wouldn't delay announcements/shipments of new products. Only reason I can see why Canon would delay a new product introduction, is to prevent cannibalizing existing product sales.

Anyone?

why would they do that? They already have the 200 f/2.0...which is one of the possibly 2 best performing lenses that canon makes

There's something wrong with the economy?Who knows? The president says "crisis" in one speech and it isn't all that bad in the next.
