So I am a late bloomer to the digital world, here are a few first images with my new Canon XS. I am still getting the hang of photoshop and all the other post processing techniques, but any feedback/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

No. 3 appeals to me I am sucker for selective color. Good composition.

They all look slightly soft to me. Not sure if the originals look this soft but one thing to remember is when reducing down an image you need to sharpen it a little.
1) I like it, although my main criticism is you cut off the tips of its ears.
2) A little soft and also looks slightly washed out.
3) I like this one. The composition is good, you kept the camera level so the vertical lines of the buildings stay vertical and the selective colour works well.
4) Pretty good overall - I like the sky and the vignetting, I don't much care for the colour cast on the building but that's more of a personal choice. It looks like an old photograph you might find in the attic.
5) Pretty good. I like the composition. One way I think it could be improved would be to do another exposure getting more stars in and merging the two photographs together. The sky takes up a good proportion of the image and it's a shame there's not more to look at.
Thanks for sharing, the images are all varied and interesting in their own way :)

I for one am NOT a fan of selective coloring. With that said, I do like #3. Except for the fact that some taillights are colored, and others aren't. That throws it off a little for me.
#3 and #5 are my favorites of the set. Welcome to POTN!

I had to do a double-take on the shot of City Hall in Center City. :) Nice to see another southeastern PA person around these parts. :)
My favorite is probably #3. I actually like the use of selective coloring here.
I also really like #4. Where is that at?

Thanks everyone for the comments, the softness I think is due to the kit lenses that I have been using. An upgrade is currently being saved for.
Julio- #4 was taken at an old converted church built in 1873 that is actually now someones house, which made for an interesting experience when I went to photograph it. The owner came home while I was there, he was really cool about it and told me everything I could have wanted to know about the building itself. It is near Cheyney University in Delaware County.

Nice photos. Welcome to POTN.
I like the 3rd as well. It has a nice feel to it.
I'm just not into your funky beveled borders too much.

Very nice. Love the selective color. Can you PM me and tell me how to do selective color on multiple objects? I only know how to do one object. I think some of your images should be slightly rotated.
