Thanks, all. I am graduating soon after going back to college for a second career. I had planned to upgrade my cycle to a new Road King as a graduation present, but now I've got my eye on a 20D and an "L" lens or 2.
I dream about taking better pictures now. Thanks.

Ruining your life? You should be grateful that POTN members can decide where you spend your money for you.
We are always on the lookout for new point and shoot members. The poorer the better. That way they feel the pain and gratitude more. I suppose we'll have to work on you a little more. DSLR and 2 L"s obviously are not enough.

Well, the wife bought me a Dreb for Christmas, and I haven't been able to put it down yet. She cringes every time I get on the BH website, and the kids are about to hide the camera to keep me from snapping any more shots of them.
On the upside, several friends have serious camera envy.

Your life is not ruin yet. Wait until you get a job and you are living pay check to pay check because you keep on buying more canon toys.... http://photography-on-the.net/forum/images/icons/icon10.gifhttp://photography-on-the.net/forum/images/icons/icon10.gif

The trouble with having both a Harley and a 20D is that you have this great urge to operat both at the same time. So far I have resisted and only managed to operate the PNS while riding!!

What are you blaming us for? We never suggested you get a Harley!

Wow, you just described my problem. :)
I want to get a Canon 100-400L this summer, but I need a new car. I spent about $6000 on my car in repairs in the past year (1996 VW Jetta). Car down payment...new lens...car down payment...new lens....argh! I think I'll end up going for the new car though and waiting until later in the year to buy the lens.

Get both. You only live once so you may as well enjoy and have fun. After all it's only money. Why leave it for your descendants?

Buying cameras and equipment is good for you. It's like when women go shop. It makes you get a little excited and then happy inside. Learning how to use your new toy is equally satisfying as well as seeing good results which makes you think that if you upgrade you can do even better in photography. It's very theraputic. Spending the money can be easily justified, where as buying a new set of drapes is something you'll have to get when you can afford it. Anyone disagree? :)

Well,
The money you spend on a 20D and an L lens or two won't get you very near to a Road King, anyway
It's more the question that now you can't put as many accessories on the bike as you planned...
Best regards,
Andy

I agree, it's either camera and motorcycle accessories or shoes for my wife! Now, my wife has her own bike; so, I have a real moral delema to deal with. I guess since I have two (trying to sell one) my accessories take precidence!
