Tell that to my credit card. I think I've cranked more on it now then I did when the economy was "good".

When Canon lets you down, time to start looking around :)
Olympus E-620--the only new DSLR at PMA 09 (http://fourthirdsphoto.com/e620preview/05.php)
I'm kinda excited about that. Camera about the size of the E-420 (smallest DSLR in da world), has in-body IS, does 4fps, and has 5 cross-type AF sensors. Take that, 5DII :D Slap the Olympus 25mm pancake lens on it and you have a small, light, carry-anywhere cam.

Yes, disappointing.

I'm disappointed Olympus didn't release their new micro-four-thirds compacts. I cant wait any more and as a result I've gone and bought a Panasonic LX3 out of frustration :D.

It shows that Canon doesn't regard the US market as its most important market.

Let's also remember that this is a post-Photokina PMA. Next year's PMA will be better since there isn't another big show just before it to steal its thunder.

Heh, yeah I was hoping to see that too. This show-mockup-a-year-ahead-of-release nonsense is ridiculous.

I was at PMA working for pocket-lint.com on Tuesday. My first visit to PMA ever, and it was not only free but I got paid to do it! I felt lucky. And I met Bruce Dorn and Bob Davis and talked with them both. I learned quite a bit from both of them.

Correct!
With those TS-E lenses and all.
The new TS-E lenses are awesome. Professional commercial photographers (read: the ones who are too busy to post in forums) are gonna be all over those - they are nothing shot of amazing feats of optical engineering, especially that 17.

Even if you're being sarcastic, I love the little olympus DSLRs + pancake lenses. I would love to have one of those.

Can't deal with the EVF. But for some reason not having a VF at all is ok (Oly micro 4/3 concept camera)? Yeah, weird, I know.

Nah, not sarcastic at all. I really am interested in it, although Pentax and their much better pancake lens selection is really calling my name right now.

Completely agree. If Pentax makes a body as compact as the E-420, with their pancakes, I'm buying one.

Size comparison I put together:
http://www.sizeasy.com/page/size_comparison/22436-Canon-40D-vs-Pentax-K20D-vs-Pentax-K200D-vs-Pentax-K2000D-vs-Olympus-E-620
The K2000D is actually a bit smaller than the E-620 in height and width and only thicker because of the chunkier grip, which after adding a lens won't matter anyway. Feel free to swap out the E-620 (or the just-for-reference 40D) for an E-420 in that comparison--should be quite a close call compared to the K2000D.
When the body-only K2000D hits the shelves (for some dumb reason it's only available as body + kit lens + flash right now) I might have to scrounge up all my pennies to get one and a 21mm f/3.2 pancake. Body-only MSRP is supposed to be $499, so it should be close to $400 street soon.
