Fellow Canon owners,

I am looking at the Canon Pro and would like to know if any of you can tell me what the difference in picture quality between the Pro and the 20D or the rebels would be if the pictures were taken at ISO 100 or lower?

Also, what effect does RAW versus JPEG have on the noise in pictures taken by the Pro at 200?

I shoot mostly at 50-100 and don't really think I need a DSLR (I have a film Rebel and several lens and they get heavy by the end of the day) and the reduction in weight would be great.

Thanks,

GLD

You can try find related information at http://www.dpreview.com
Base on their testing,
1)Canon Powershot pro1 ISO100 noise level is equal to Canon 20D ISO800-ISO1600.
2)RAW and JPEG will have the same noise level, the advantage of RAW is that you can
do more post processing and loss less quality of the picture. It is suggested that you
try to avoid using ISO200 on any compact DC (non-DSLR).
3)Always choose the most suitable camera for you. But you should know that the
low noise level of 20D enables you to use 8 time faster shutter and get same quality
as of Pro1, or use the same shutter and take the picture in a darker enviroument.
If you don't need these advantages, you don't need a DSLR.
