I just got the RS-80N3 for my MkIIn and I prefer to use the * for focusing. For now I reverted back to the Shutter for focus and shooting while I use the remote, but is there a setting or quick button I can set to simply change between the two rather than doing the custom functions buttons?
Thanks!

Subscribed because I have the same issue. I * focus on all my bodies.

I'm thinking that there isn't an easy way unless I'm missing something obvious right now.

Does the 1DIIn have the ability for a quick menu for quick access to custom functions? My 1DII doesn't but my 40D does.

Take a look at page 170 of your 1DII-N manual. It tells you how to register up to three different custom function settings and then apply any one of them on the fly. Not sure if it'll make the switch that much faster, though.

On my 40D I have set a C2 to M+Focus on the shutter button. When I am on M, my shutter is on the AF-ON. This allows a bit of customization, which will be good for the remote release.

Hmm, I'll look into the custom function switching, might be one step faster now that I think about it. I was thinking that would be more of a hassle for some reason.
I would use the manual + focus but I shoot in manual for football, basketball and wrestling so I'm afraid that wouldn't work.
