I was recently gifted with a new bower ttl dedicated flash and need some help. I've done searches and can't find what I'm looking for. And please don't tell me to just give up and buy the "right" flash; this was a present and I'm trying to see if it can work as a travel flash (so I don't care as much if it gets a little beat up).

You guys are a great resource for me and I'm calling on your help!!

My bower flash works great and "talks" to my camera when pointed directly. I have flash compensation control through the camera with great results. However, when I angle the flash to bounce, it seems to loose compatibility. It turns out extremely dark images and the flash compensation doesn't make any difference. Ideas?

TIA

What ISO are you shooting at? It sounds like your flash is not powerful enough to use in bounce. Flash compensation makes no difference if the image is too dark due to lack of power.

if you have been using ISO 100, switch to a higher ISO like 800.

Thank you! I switched up just a bit (to 400) and it made a world of difference. It works beautifully in my home with that small adjustment. I'll take it out tomorrow and try some other places.

Thanks again!
