I need a good laptop for imaging work. I'm told 17"s are to big too carry around comfortably. Anything around or slightly above the AUD$2000 price is okay. Mac or PC, don't care. Inbuilt wireless internet would be nice, as would 2GB+ of RAM and about 250GB or more of HD space.
As you can see I clearly have no idea about what laptops are going around, so any help at all would be good.
It doesn't matter if it's a year old or whatever, as long as it can run large PS files (1GB+ on occasion) properly. By properly I don't mean instantly, but good enough so the program doesn't just give up.
Cheers.

Have you looked at any PC's or Mac's yet? Apple's are pretty much on top followed by Lenovo. If you're saying PC or Mac then you're probably don't care what OS you get. These are the top scoring computers (15") at Consumer Reports:
#1 Apple MacBook Pro 15" (http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MB470LL/A?mco=MTkzOTI0Mg)
#2 Lenovo ThinkPad T500 (http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/integration.workflow:ProductDisplayBundle?IsBundle =true&GroupID=37&Code=T500_INTEL&OID=:00000025:000019CF:&PID=PGT500_INTEL)
#3 Lenovo THilnkPad R500 (http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/systemconfig.runtime.workflow:LoadRuntimeTree?sb=: 00000025:00001CC6:&smid=7788AB0C7D5942A3BAF7850043686BA4)

That's very helpful, thank you. Is there a big difference between a 15" and a 17"? My 16" PC seems quite small to me.

Think I found a good one. HP DV6-1013TX.
It's 16", 4GB RAM, 2.53 CPU, has a 512MB dedicated video card, and is $1, 506 US. That sounds pretty good to me.

Just so you know, spec's are pretty much the same all around - most of the time it comes down to brand (reputation, reliability & warranty). Apple is at the top of all three categories while Gateway and HP trail pretty far behind. HP can be hit or miss with their service so just be aware and good luck.
