Hi

I need to photograph interiors of a few condos. I was using a basic vivtar and researched online to discover that G10 came out highly rated in realtors tests.

I ordered a G10 and a wider lens (lens has not arrived yet)

I took some shots and some look terrible. Worse than my original camera.
can be seen below (all the interior shots at the bottom)

My friend overseas says I need to set slower shutter speed but I'm not sure exactly how to do it.

I am a reale vocie at pics but quite technically minded so if anyone can advise me on the correct dials to turn and buttons to push along with the best way to have room/windoww lights (of or off, open or closed etc) I would be extremely grateful.

I know this camera is capable of doing a much better job, it's just a shame there is a complete novice pressing the button.

many thanks in advance for any advice

Terry

Your photos look fine to me. They accurately represent what you're selling.

I mean, you're doing real estate, not art.

I think your pictures are fine. However, I think they could be improved by using the custom white balance feature. The bathroom pics are a bit too brown or yellow. I believe that is a combination of the wall color and the yellow tint given off by the bathroom lighting. If you had used the custom white balance, you'd see a much more brighter and inviting room etc. A couple of your pics had those issues. I think if you play around with that feature you'll be happier with your shots in mixed lighting.

If you don't know, go AUTO and AUTO. :) It usually turns out pretty nice.

By the way, I think you did a great job in shooting the interiors with the bright light coming in from the big window in the bedroom.

Your pictures look fine to me too. I think having a slightly wider lens would help get more of the room into the picture and make the room like a bit bigger. Also, I would highly recommend getting a bounce flash like the 430EX so that the lighting was more even. You will probably run into some barrel distortion if you use an auxiliary wide angle lens so you might need to correct for that in post processing.

I shoot real estate photos for my business, Fuerteventura Property World (http://www.fuerteventura-propertyworld.com/).
The 10-22 is perfect for the job, and my ex 430 covers most rooms except the very largest. For bigger rooms I up the OSO to increase flash power

If you're looking for more of that ' warm golden glow' you might see in magazines instead of the harsh hospital quality none of us would want, you might want to try experimenting with this suggestion.

Don't use the flash. The camera will keep the shutter opened longer, (which is a good thing because more natural light will come in), so you'll need to use a tripod. Also, use the delayed shutter release setting, 2 or 10 second, so you won't get any unwanted shake from your finger pressing the shutter button.

Experiment with this using the 'auto' or 'program' setting first, and see how they turn out.

Looks like a great condo btw! Good luck with the sale!
