Hair the musical is mostly famous because people sometimes take all their clothes off in it. When edinburgh Music Theatre did the show there was one lady who danced topless in the dress rehearsal. As I understand it, more tried later on in the week.
The company performed outstandingly in the dress rehearsal. The trainign, focus and discipline that you could see were excellent. In this production, all the "us" characters were female, males were the "them" characters - the authority figures.
While the show was exceptionally well done, and the music was very enjoyable, I have to admit that it ws just not my cup of tea. A bit like Carousel - the story (such as it was) didn't engage me.
Photographically, it was extremely interesting. In post processing, I have normally tried to produce photographs that tend towards under-playing the extremes of what the lighting designer can do, on the grounds that the eye tends to compensate in ways it doesn't when it looks at a photograph. This time, the lighting was such that that was impossible - and was probably contrary to the spirit of the show anyway.
So, we ended up with some quite funky lighting!
