helped couple of friends shoot his setup at a gig. please let me know what i can do to improve myself at a event like this. i know its nothing amazing. C&C welcome!

No, why?

Some nice shots, but the close up of the element is a bit too saturated (judging on my laptop): Both blues and reds clip.

A bit more "action" might have been nice.

i actually did it that way, because the turn tables were pretty dusty. i actually messed with Curve in PS to darken the tables so that dust wouldnt show up.

he mainly wanted me to shoot his equipments. but i just threw in some shots of them for my personal practice. i forgot to bring a tripod and was taken hand held at 1600iso with flash. some were taken with 2nd curtain to capture some light trails but freeze the subject.

what can i do to capture some 'action' shots in dark areas like that by hand held?

But I'm basically referring to the fact that the DJ's look quite "static".
So it's more a case of timing then technique...
