Some help required from the monitor experts.
Just powered up my new Dell 2209WA, there is a single dead pixel in the middle of the screen.
With the old TN panels you could have a go a tapping and sometime it would come back to life.
Anyone know if this works on the IPS panels, or any utility (OSX) that can resolve?
Don't think they will take it back for one dead? ANyone know Dells limit.

Is it stuck or dead? If it's dead then it's dead and there's no bringing it back. If its colored (likely stuck then vs white) then there may be hope. I bought an LG with a stuck pixel (pink vs white) and I hit it with a fractal generator for 6 hours and when I came back it was gone. The sad part is another one appeared after that :( I just sent it back and claimed it was faulty (most places wont take it back just for a bad pixel).

I've revived ones on my laptop doing this.
Turn off your computer.
Get yourself a damp cloth, so that you don't scratch your screen.
Apply pressure to the area where the dead pixel is. Do not put pressure anywhere else, as this may make more dead pixels.
While applying pressure, turn on your computer and screen.
Remove pressure and the dead pixel should be gone. This works as the liquid in the liquid crystal has not spread into each little pixel. This liquid is used with the backlight on your monitor, allowing different amounts of light through which give off different colours.

I haven't tried this myself, but you may want to check this out to see if it helps.
