Hi! I am looking for some comments on this image.. The picture was taken with my 10D...lighting was just a regular overhead chandeler type light and a bounce flash....I PS'ed the vingnetting...just wanted some opinions

Thank you so much!

WOW!

My, now long distance, friend just had a baby. Can't help but think how they're doing.

its a nice pose and the lighting is great but the focus missed a tad teh adult handd is crisper than the baby face...babies hair is in focus too. just make sure the focus hits the face- otherwise a very very nice image

Nice pose for sure, but as already mentioned it's a pity the focus is off.

Nice, but I'll echo the "out of focus" comment. And for me the adult thumb sticking up behind the baby's head is a bit of a distraction. Lighting seems good to me, too.

I'll go against the grain and say I prefer it slightly soft. When I think of baby, I think of innocence, the inability to care for themselves, and that wonderfull soft baby skin and new baby smell. Seeing this image tack sharp I think would kill the value of it for me. In fact I would probably soften the adults hands just a touch to bring it in line with the baby.

The only thing I find a distraction is whatever the object is above adults left hand and arm. Almost looks like a polka dot linen of some kind. I would burn or clone that out, , a little curves for the almost too bright highlists on the babies forehead and print this as a 8x10 with 11x14 matte and give it to the parents.

screw the out of focus comment.. This photo works.. It looks more like soft focus to me which looks great in this particular pic..

Well when taking the pic, (it wasnt very planned out...just happened to have my camera w/ me when visiting the baby)....I had an overhead dining room light (a chandeler type light)...it was very yellow...I also had my bounce flash....

When I edited the photo in PS...I did not like the tones that the yellow light gave the baby, so I made it b/w (if it looks bad in color, make it black and white )....but, I still wasnt liking it, so I used the spotlight lighting effect in PS...burned in the edges a bit...and there you have it, the final result!!

I like the soft focus - you don't want the image to shout at you.... good save!

This is a beautiful picture, everything is soft and simple. It really reveals the complexity of life in its simplest from. Honestly, one of my favorite pics i've seen on these boards. I thought the lighting was well done, the gradient that happens from the elbow of the man, the face of the child.
