Lighting a car with a 430EX?

i plan on getting a flash next, (money is an issue) i originally wanted to jump on the 580ex but im not quite sure i can justify spending an extra xxx amount of money for something i play with occasionally.

i dont plan on having an expencive strobist setup but i'd like to have a flash and experiment with light painting with other light sources to achieve results.

my question is that would a power from a 430ex be suffice from what im trying to do? ie. using longer exposure and triggering the flash manually from different locations

Yes, it would suffice.

do a 30 second exposure, and run aroudn the car "painting it" and you wil be golden.

i use two 430EXs for suto shoots. sometimes a third 580, depends on what i wanna do
