A recent shot done for my portfolio. The subject is a Norman acoustic guitar made in Quebec Canada, lit with a single Alien Bees B800.

I like it, but the guitar seems to be a little lower on the left side to me. I'm also seeing the velvet on the right side where the body begins. Good concept.

awesome photo. Is it done without retouching by any tool? I'm always wondering whether or not I can light up only a part of subjects without light reflecting to the surrounding. How can you make a photo like this? I can't find any shadow and guess where the lights come from.

it was done without retouching except for a levels tweak. The secret is the use of a snoot, from just behind and above camera center. There was also a black bounce just above the guitar to absorb stray light.

Eek! I'll have to shoot this concept again and keep a closer eye on the guitar "horizon".

nice shot - the lighting is nice and simple just like the guitar, perfectly fitting!
(ps: the guitar looks pretty level to me)
