What levels of bandwidth per month is typical for hosting a gallery site. I am trying to get an idea of how much hosting I need to buy per month.

It really depends. Mine has about 1.5 - 2GB per month. And here is the site: http://pengs.us/gallery

Sean; Thanks for the info. I don't think that is going to be a problem for me as my site has up to 20gb per month free.

The bandwidth can be controlled quite effectively by offering smaller photos only and not giving any full size high quality ones. In my site the bandwidth got down from 38GB to 6GB per month (even with more hits) when I got rid of big and medium size high quality photos and set smaller size as default size.
