Can anyone recommend a good book on Flash Photography -
mainly using an on camera flash such as the 580?
Something that is easy to follow and not to technical, but still above
the basics.
Much appreciated :D

Although this is not a book (yet), it's a good place to start:

http://www.planetneil.com/tangents/flash-photography-techniques/

Also, Mr. Neil Niekerk is coming out with a more comprehensive book which you can pre-order:

Not a book but I can point you to sev eral great tutorials given by two of the best Photogs alive IMHO joe McNally and David Ziser. Goto KelbyTraining.com and sign up for a month and take the on camera flash, off camera flash, and the posing and portrait lessons from David Ziser.(he uses the Canon Flashes mainly) then take the numerous hotshoe flash videos that Joe McNally has list there he has three of for for the Nikon hotshoe flash and another several where he shows you how to like differently to get different results using modifiers. It is well worth the 19.99 for th emonth just to learn from these two. Then you have all the other classes that they keep adding to.
