I took the shot using a tripod on a very cloudy, damp day and I really wanted to try and bring back a bit of “Old Newport” - perhaps not how I would have remembered it, but maybe my Grand Parents (everything was in black and white and grainy in those days right?).

C&C Appreciated.

Many Thanks

Kevin

A great shot indeed. I reckon a crop to remove the railing from the bottom of the photo would make this even better.

It's up to you.

Thanks shadowkipper - I had played with cropping the bottom out, and I also don't like the electricity pylon to the right. Maybe I'll have another crop and see how it comes out.

Thanks again,

Kevin

Ahhh...memories.

I am a St. Julians boy, vintage 1965, now living in sunny Thailand, but I do miss that bridge and what it stands for (only 2 in the world, correct? The other one in Belgium?).

I remember walking across the top of it and $hitting myself the whole way up, over and down.

The B&W with grain really does capture how miserable a part of Newport this bridge is in. Good work my friend!

St. Julians eh? I remember many a rugby game over there (St. Joes myself). Actually, the other bridge is in the USA (check my blog for more details on it!).

Newport is undergoing a re-gen at the moment ready for the Ryder Cup - but its got a long way to go to being as decent as Thailand!

Cheers Kev
