Nice shots Jay, Love the Embraer, it is so sharp that I can almost read the Pilot's mind! Is he just unsticking, or just about to touchdown?
PS At least we have warmer weather for the race weekend - glad it wasn't last Sunday when we had snow!

Thanks! :)
The 175 was flaring to land.
We're definately glad it warmed up and thawed out. We got snow flurries here last year.

Good ones. That's a very nice location to shoot from! We got snow flurries here last year. This is a fortunate warm spell. I've been there in October & had ice storms.

Jay,
You are lucky to be in a hotel with a view - last time I tried to get close to ATL I was "moved on" by the local PD who said that "he could have shot the aircraft down with his Glock" This was on the easterly approach to RW 10 on Forest Parkway. I assume the you were "lucky enough" to get an airport view rather than the alternative view. Keep up the good work on the aircraft AND NASCAR front.

I just flew back from KATL. Flying standby is a pita, except it's worth it for my new job. :)

Commercial flying in general can be a PITA these days but it's a necessary evil for some of us.
The ExpressJet is rockin!
Tough target with which to pan but I liked the result. Glad you do too...

Nice ones!! Really like the 1st with the thrust reversers out. I need those on my Tundra!!
Good thing you used a camera, from that vantage point you could do some real havoc with a peashooter... lol

When I was on my hotel balcony shooting on Saturday evening (pics to follow), some guy in a Honda Accord driving by below me slowed way, way down to see what I had in my hand. I could see him looking up at me through the windshield, then he was far enough along to look up at me through his sunroof. I just stared back at him, gave him the "WHAT?" shoulder shrug and went back to shooting.

Afraid not. I only get to televise NASCAR, not photograph it. :(

Holy smokes. That first one is the sharpest and also the longest shutter speed! May I ask why such a long shutter speed and were these handheld or did you have a monopod?

Glad it got your attention...! ;)
I was just trying to see how slow a shutter speed I could get away with to impart a sensation of speed.
This was shot hand held.

The Rennaisance is one of the best "unintentional" shooting spots I think I've ever run accross.

Funny you mention this. At first, I thought maybe it was someone I work with who was going to give me some good natured grief. Took me a couple of beats to notice that he was really, really focused on me to the point of nearly stopping in the road when he had an eyeline through his sunroof. I should have shot a frame or two just for fun! ;)

I appreciate it, thanks very much.
