Using remote capture program on small monitor

I have been using the remote capture program that comes with the G10. I love that I don't have to touch the camera to adjust exposure/aperture and to use the shutter release. I bought a little 2 lb. acer laptop with a 9" screen (surprisingly good quality screen) for the sole purpose of using the remote capture program on it when I'm out shooting. When I tried to install the canon utilities disk on the little laptop I got an error saying there was insufficient screen resolution. Is there a way to get it to run on a small screen?
