I am going to see my nephew play tonight in a local club. I have never shot in this type of situation and would like some suggestions and tips.

Is it acceptable to use a flash? Should I use a high or low f-stop? What are some good basic shots?

I am not taking pictures for any PR, but if they turn out acceptable I am sure his band would like to use them.

Again, any help would be appreciated....

The norm is high ISO, low aperture value, best shutter speed you can get, no flash. Sometimes you can use flash, and that opens up other opportunities and/or technical issues.
