These two are part of a portfolio which I hope I'll be able to show off at an interview for a fairly basic photography course.
Please critique.

WHat were you trying to say with these photos. Without knowing that, one really can't do more than point out what one likes or dislikes about them--and that's not really a critique.

The first one is interesting but I find the background a bit distracting. I brought it into PS and blurred the background and it was more to my liking. Nicely done in any event. These types of shots don't fit all tastes and you certainly can't be all to all people.

i like the first one. its both goth and religious. i'd either make the background more blurred or more into focus depending of whether it fit with the subject matter (is it in a church? a store?) as for the second, i like how the light is hitting the globe/car thing and how you use your hand (im assuming) to show a sense of scale. however, it seems a little too much out of focus. Also, i'd play around with the colors a bit more, maybe trying b&w. dont be afraid to really go after your pics and butcher them. you might end up with something really good.
