Just a few from the skatepark. I'm bound to have more this week from street spots in Phoenix.

1 is pretty good, but 2 is just not doing it for me. The shadow on his face, the kid in the BG, and to me, it doesn't look like you put any thought into the comp.

I had to choose between a small shadow on his face or my entire body shadow on the ledge and him as far as illuminating his left side goes. About the kid in the background, it's a public skatepark, what the **** are you expecting? And you're right, I chose the composition that would be "good enough" and not excellent because it's a skatepark photo which equals trash by default for everything except myspace.

wooo there, no need to fly off the handle. Image one is solid, #2 is not so much so.
And seeing a gear list isn't going to tell someone what was used for that shoot.
If you don't want CC please don't ask for it, otherwise take the 10 year old get your feelings hurt somewhere else.

I wasn't flying off the handle at all. And if my gear list wasn't going to answer the persons question, why the hell would I post "please see my gear list"? Common sense, people...

IMO #2 could be a nice candid sportrait by cropping and/or cloning out the blue rider & board in the background

Just because you own it does not mean you use it...

If I didn't use it, I would've put what I used.
Slapstix, as visible in my gear list, I used:
TWO SUNPAK 544's and 3 POCKETWIZARD PLUS II's
I just realized why I stopped coming here...

I like your work and would like to see more. It's an internet forum where people are trying to learn. No need to take things so serious. :)

Hey Joe, nice to see that you're winning friends and influencing people. That should serve you well once you actually get out into the real world.

The lighting looks good but the angles are pretty unflattering. In my opinion, the wide angle thing is pretty played in skateboarding, snowboarding etc.

And I actually don't mind the kid in the background of the second one. I think it's an interesting addition, and isn't really distracting. Makes the kid doing the trick look that much better, heh!

So you didnt use the Canon Speedlite 166A? Did you use your light stands? You also have gadget infinity triggers listed, guess you didnt use those now that you clarified? Seriously dude, it was a simple question that many of us ask on peoples photos, no need to snap back. No one was being rude or snapping back at you until you lashed out at us.
The first reply was also giving you CC. There has been MUCH harsher criticism given around here, and it all is in the form of trying to improve peoples photos and techniques (for the most part). If you dont like CC and just think all your work is perfect, I would find a new hobby or at least not post on a site that thrives on CC to try and help fellow photogs. Even the pros get critiqued to improve things.
So, in the words that you want to hear: They are both perfect, happy shooting, and I am glad you are happy with your results.

I think besides being a little on edge, these are solid pictures. I like them alot.
And people will say the wide angle things is played out, but so is the "2 wedding rings making a heart shadow" shot, but most wedding photogs dont hesitate to shoot it.
Just lighten up a little, and you can really let this site help you.
Keep shooting!
