It's raining today and I'm bored so I took some shots of my Kel-Tec pocket rocket and my Griptillian. At least one of these guys is with me wherever I go.

C&C welcome.

I live outside of Detroit, and while I've never been threatened or even felt that I was in a bad place, I've always felt safer with my companions around.

I'm not saying everyone should be armed to the teeth, but the police can't be everywhere at once and the fact that some people are armed makes the bad guys think twice before trying to 'jack someones stuff.

It's registered and I'm licensed for concealed carry. No reason to go looking for trouble from either side of the law.

Good to hear, it's almost impossible to get a concealed license in NY.

Don't forget some states don't require registration.

I really like my Kel-Tec as it's a lot thinner than my Glock.

The Kel-Tec P3-AT shown here is a tiny little thing, about palm size. Real easy to slip into a front jeans pocket. I'm not a rabid concealed carry guy and wouldn't carry a larger pistol, so for me it's the P3 or nothing.

Many I've talked to expressed a bit of nervousness about people carrying weapons out in public, but most of them come around when I explain how the fact that any given person might be armed keeps everyone safer. Some of those same people ask me if I'm carrying when we're in less-than-savory places so they now understand the value of weapons in public. People tend to be more polite also.

When there's a good chance that someone may be armed you tend to get way fewer "in your face" crimes like carjackings, home invasions and muggings and more parked cars stolen and homes broken into when no one's home. Here in Michigan violent crime did drop after we got "shall issue" concealed carry laws. In Detroit they get a lot of gang vs. gang shootings but most people have no problem with the gangs killing themselves off.

I defenitely feel more relaxed knowing that I have some means of defending myself, even if I'm very unlikely to need to do it. The folding knife, of course, is just plain handy every day.

Since I was a kid I carried a little Buck Stockman pocket knife for general cutting chores but since I now work closer to Motown I had to consider the "presence" of such a small knife should I have to use it for self defense. The Griptillian's blade is just 1/4" longer than the Stockman but has much more authority. It holds a wicked edge, too.

Look like good companions to have, that's for sure!
