Hi everyone, i am going to buy a new digital camera and i'm trying to decide between the Canon EOS-300D Digital Rebel and the Olympus Evolt E-300.

Both cameras have good reviews.

I have found these both at this site, infinitiphoto.com, and was hoping someone could offer their advice/suggestions/experiences.

I know this is a canon forum, but i was hoping someone could offer up some quality advice.

Thank you.

I haven't used either of those cameras. So, take this for what it's worth.

If both cameras are very close in performance or even if the Olympus is somewhat better, I would have to give the nod to Canon based on lens selection alone.

Other than that, get your hands on both and see which one fits what you want to do.

You should check resellerratings.com... From briefly taking a look at their ratings and customer feedback, I would not purchase from them, unless you enjoy headaches.

I can't comment on the two cameras that you have short listed as I haven't used either. I can say that I would avoid the retailer like the plague. Here is there rating

I have the 300D and I really love it. The Oly E-300 is supposed to be a great camera. Olympus does make some nice equipment. I would still buy the Canon since Canon has a much better selections of lenses. From what I hear the Oly lenses are very expensive. I considered the same camera as you and decided to purchase the Digital Rebel. Just my .02 cents worth of advice.

I would go with the Canon. You would not just be buying a camera, you would be investing in a system. When you you decide to move up the lind in camera body, i.e.; XT, 20D, 1DMKII, you will already have lenses that are compatible as they are used on the 300D.
Good luck and stay away from those shady retailers.
