Error 01 Using EF 70-200 2.8 IS on 20D & 10D

I just bought a 20D and am now getting an error message "Error 01" when I use my EF 70-200 2.8 IS USM. It is also happening when I switch it to my 10D? I'm new to digital so would appreciate any advice.

According to the 10D manual this error code translates to "Clean lens contacts".

Have you done this yet. Does this also happen with other lenses. Given that it happens with two separate bodies I would suggest to check and clean the lens contacts. It should clear it up.

Thanks for responding. Besides wiping the contacts off with a clean photo cloth, is there anything special I should use on the lens or the body?
