I am about to photograph my children in the Texas Bluebonnets in Central Texas. Is anyone familiar with that region? Well, I really want to make the colors of the flowers pop (they are blue/violet and are sometimes mingled with a bright red orange flower). I have a Canon 20D and know that I can adjust the saturation, use filter effects, etc. Any suggestions out there?

He has some great photos and a link to a site called Wildflowerhaven.com. Visit that site as it has some good information.
As far as making the flowers pop, make sure you have good light, use ISO 100 and a small aperture. Don't go too wide. You should not have any trouble finding a place to photograph.
Have fun!

The reddish flowers are usually Indian Paintbrushes...and they're gorgeous in their own right.
I just took some macro bluebonnet shots and as long as you have a good, clear, bright day, the colors will be perfect. If it's slightly overcast, you might have to up the saturation a smidge, but not much.
Hope that helps.
