I love those nose down shots. It reminds me of the first Tomb Raider movie. There is a sceen where Laura Croft and a group are walking away from thier Chinooks as they are taking off, head on, nose down. I always thought that was a nicely dircted scene.

Whoa, that second shot is really sweet. Great motion blur on the blades too. Holy sharpness on the body of the helicopter.

When I was in the army, we "affectionately" referred to them as "****nooks" cause they felt like a rattletrap that was about to fall apart. I, for one, was more than happy to jump out of that perfectly good bird! :-)

The pilot was laughing his head off at one point because when he first nosed down, the rotor blades were at our head level and we nearly had an episode of stinky underwear. The other is waving yes.
We were sat there bored of all the Apaches and the pilot, instead of heading straight out, got airborne, snapped the Chinook around and went straight for us. He was so low by the time he got over us that i could no longer even fit the cockpit in the view finder. Warm Exhaust gases then blew down on us.

Thanks for the comments chaps. They were taken on the crappy 75-300 USM III yes.
Skygod, these were taken in a military training range east of Odiham.
