this was the 4th time i've seen Boris, but also the shortest, as i was coming from another stage and left early to get a decent spot for the Harvey Milk set, which was in the smallest room of the event. as such, i probably saw about 1.5 songs, but it was enough to get some good shots, i think. they went nuts w/ the fog...sometimes it totally blanketed everything on stage. it was also nice to see Kurihara still playing w/ them; he is such a fantastic guitar player.

#2 this shot of atsuo was bathed in magenta fog...i had to spend some to get a usable image, and i ended up quite liking this one.

This is a great set, Tim! The processing - particularly in #4 and #5 - really makes the images pop.

Nice!

it seems as if there was a ton of light at this show any reason shooting high iso, just looks like there is alot of noise that could have been reduced?
i do like shot 3 alot its alittle mysterious

A lovely set not of your usual dark and dreary venue! :-) These are certainly of the artistic ilk! #1 looks like Skin Head city and is a bit contrasty but a great composition. The guy in #4 looks like he is animatronic with all those cables coming off him. Very solid set.

not sure if you are confusing high contrast w/ noise...i personally don't see much noise at all (w/ the exception of the drummer shot), and shooting ISO 2000 w/ the 5D2 is very clean. the light was highly variable, and since i shoot manually i don't fidget w/ ISO once i dial it in. and to be honest, i don't care about noise.

thanks dwight. yeah, shooting big stages can be a lot more fulfilling and gives you more options for different looks.
