A shot of my middle kid using the 85mm f/1.8, 60" Softliter II with my old Sunpak DX-26 from my A-1/F-1 days. In Aperture, I did a spot patch, drop the exposure just a fraction (darned manual flashes), boost the highlights, and then add a bit of vibrancy to recover the Ultramarine background. The 85mm is such a great lens for portraiture on a crop camera.

Thanks all for the kind words. At that age (about 2 years ago) she was really camera shy. A few dress up clothes and a funny story helped out. This shot was also published in Shutterbug some time ago for their monthly solicitations ("personal portraits" or some such).

nice checky shot and nice DOF

On a crop sensor camera, the 85mm is a super lens for this kind of work. I think this was at f/2.5 or so.
