Portraits using 50mm 1.8 lens

Just bought Canon 50mm 1.8 lens, and took some photos during my son's birthday party. What do you think of the sharpness of this lens?

I've read somewhere that if your photos aren't interesting get closer. Seems you've done that. I like them. #2 could use a little more light for me and number 3 will haunt him for the rest of his life....it's my favorite by far. They do appear to me to be sharp.

i agree that #2 does need to be lightened..the bright light coming from the window behind is distracting.
