My daughter's SD 750 won't work with the flash on. If I set it on no flash the camera works just fine. Has anyone had a similar problem? And if so, is it possibly just a setting? Thanks

Could you clarify what you mean by "won't work with flash"? Shuts itself down? Just doesn't fire the flash? Does everything but save the picture?

It doesn't do anything. It won't take a picture at all. At first I thought the battery was low but, after charging the battery, it was just the same.

The LCD is blank? Does the "pilot light" go out? What happens if you're set to Auto Flash and it needs to use flash? What happens if you have Flash set Off and then turn it On? "It doesn't do anything" doesn't give us a lot to go on. Please describe exactly how it doesn't do anything and what all the conditions are that differ from when the camera does work.

Sorry, I've been too busy to get back to clarify what wrong with this camera.
If I turn the camera on and set the flash to off, the camera performs normally. But, if I try to use the flash, I'll press the release, the AF assist light comes on, and I can hear a faint click-click but that's it. It's kind of like unlimited shutter lag. I've tried different settings, as in AF assist off, but again, when I press the release i can hear the same noise and get the same result.
I have a feeling that the camera may have been dropped but don't really know.
WAIT A MINUTE!! I just opened the battery door with the camera on to see if it would turn off (I knew it would :D), closed the door, and tried the flash one more time, and VIOLA!!!!!! the dam thing worked just fine! I have no idea if that is what made it work but I'm not complaining.
Oh, sh*t! Now it quit working again. But this time it will just take the picture without the flash. I'm trying the "reset all" option. That didn't do anything.
And now I'm back to where I was when I started this post. Talk about the ups & downs - oh well, I didn't really think this was that simple of a fix.
Well, I'll sit back & see if anyone has an idea about it. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the battery and the camera are making poor contact then. Do you have a spare battery for it that you can try? You might also try pressing down on the door and see how it works then.

Thanks, Jon. My wife has a SD1100 IS that takes the same battery and I've tried hers in it & it doesn't make a difference. I also tried holding the battery door & didn't get any flash. I do think I'll get something to clean the contacts on the battery & the ones in the camera. I'll do that later today & get back to you on what happens. Thanks
