Hello all,

We are interested in an affordable P&S w/manual controls. We have an A570IS now that we love, but would definitely like to pick up a G-series if we can. Our budget is limited, so the G9/G10s are out.

We were hopeful to find a G3/G5 for under $100. But we are curious to know what a G3/G5 would give us that the A570 doesn't. Since these models are old, the reviews are out of date. We love the way the G10s feel when you hold them, and the greater amount of manual controls. Is there anything else we're missing IQ wise?

TIA!

I wouldn't be without my G5. It has it's place in my bag among all the DSLR stuff. If you can find a good used one it would serve you nicely.

I'm trying to find a deal on a used G5. It's difficult to compare it to the A570IS because its an older camera. Other than the articulating screen, what advantages would a G5 have over a newer P&S?

Thanks for the info! I did pick up a used G5 on eBay, so I'll get to compare for myself. Worse case scenario, I sell the camera I don't want to keep since I paid so little for both of them. Thanks again for your input!
