Hi Guys I was just wondering if anybody know of any on-line tutorials for Product Photography, I have Taken some good Pictures of My Mother-in-Law's babycakes to put on a website I've build for her.

I used indoor lighting with a flash and a bluescreen background and the products have come out really well,, good white balance and even lighting.

I just want to spice them up a bit. I can remove the background easy enough but putting the cropped items into something more suiting and balancing the colour and focus to make them eye catching is where I am totally lost.

Anybody here done product photography? any time tricks or general advice you can share, even if its a bump to another site.

I have tried searching the forum but cannot find anything, Is there a specific term I should use for Product Photography? or is it simply as I call it?

To This

I'm impressed with my own results, Simply cropped the background and took out the reflection of the blue surface on the white parts.

It seems a little lost in space.

Any tweaks I could do would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I can't point you to an tutorials but, I can though in my 2¢.

I think it would have been way less work to just use a white background. Also don't use the bar/rod thing to get a square corner, let the material form a rounded radius where it transitions from horizontal to vertical. This will make it seem like there is nothing behind it and make lighting and PP much easier.

The shot its self looks good and seems on par with things I've seem in catalogs and brochures.

Looks pretty good to me. As the post above me said it would proably take less time if you use a white background with smooth tranistions.

For straight product photography what you have looks good to me. Not sure what your wanting to change but it looks good so far.

Thank you very much for you comments, perhaps I'm just being overly self critical. I was just wondering if there were any tips or tweaks to make it look even better.
