Nice stuff Allen. His face looks a little hot in the first one, but I like them both.

Thanks Perry,
Yeah the face is borderline and the front of the shirt is gone (blown out) but I thought I needed to hold the lower right background.

That's true. I think you made the right call as far as exposure goes, and it isn't too hard to tone down the face in post while leaving the rest untouched, but that's probably the fashion photog in me talking, I've never retouched one of my concert pics before .
This is also why I want Canon to start focusing on DR and not this megapixel/ISO crap :p.

Perry,
I did bring the face down a bit before I delivered to the client but the highlights on the shirt are gone:(. Here are a couple more from the same event.

Well, I've got to say that I'm partial to the 35mm perspective and subject isolation. ;)
As for exposure...they look great. You just have to do what you can to keep as much detail in the shot as possible...and I think your compromises here are pretty close to ideal.

Well, perspective has nothing to do with focal length :p.
You must've been close, Allen - I REALLY like the first one of the two new ones you posted. The reds on his face are a little more toned down and the expression, light, and composition are top notch. It's almost rembrandt lighting on his face .

Hey, this is PA, leave the technicalities out of here! You know what I mean, given a certain composition. I like shots that get up close and get in on the action.

Yeah I was right at the edge of the stage. Man I hate those spots and tip my hat to those that do this all the time. Going from green to yellow to blue and that color spilling EVERYWHERE on the stage...
Heres a couple more
