Headed there this coming Sunday, March 15th. Anyone up for another NY meet? I want to see if the 180L is really worth the money. Tickets to the show are $20.

And parking is 12 bucks. I was there 2 weekends ago and it was all you could do to see the flowers past all the lenses.

Why don't you just use the Canon tube, get some duct tape and mount it with your Nikon 24-70?

Hell, that's what I am going to do. 85L + Kenko tubes + 1.4x TC = pretty good macro getup. But crap, shooting macro means either a pod or a flash, and I'm not too keen on bringing either of them, being that these items are for wimps. Plus I ain't gots room for the flash if I is gonna bring me 200L.

Damn...I gots real problems.

This dead weight will be there.

The plan, at least according to me :D, is to spend a few hours at the Garden, then head on over to the Zoo.

No 180L macro lens here, but I've just tested out my 50L + 1.4x TC + Kenko tubes + diffuser-made-out-of-Coke-cans-with-paper-towel-on-the-front franken-macro setup and it's a go.

ooo, there's a lesson to be learned here. If you are broke, you figure out a way. Call MDJAK up. His 200-400VR can always use a good strokin'. That might be enough to get you a free ride.;):lol:

I am going to have to school you two in Macro. I can't remember how many times I've shot macro. Let me think. 3 times...:lol:

Yeah, sorry we missed you. We were pretty much done with the Gardens by 11am and since there really wasn't anything else to shoot over there besides the indoor exhibits, we decided to head to the Zoo.

Had a decent time shooting at the zoo. Mark's 200-400 was indeed impressive, if not his photography skills...:lol:;)

MDJAK's just yanking everyone's chain. He was there. I should have taken a picture of him, but I was afraid to burn out my sensor.

In typical fashion his keeper rate was something like 3/600, if that much.
He gives new meaning to the term spray and pray every time he picks up his camera.
