My affair with Canon began with the A1 SLR, then the T90 and with the digital age looming upon us in late-nineties, I could not resist the Canon G1 which served me well for a good few years until I decided to get 'long-life' batteries from ebay which most probably caused the 'sudden death' of my G1! :( (Does not switch on whether on fully charged battery or mains!). Managed to get a mint condition G2 from ebay which has been a very reliable tool as I did not risk using the 'dodgy' batteries but only the original Canon! However, the goddess of temptation has visited again and I am drooling at the G10, which is going for a reduced price at 'ARGOS'. Just want to check with current users if the G10 has any sort of 'sudden death' tendencies or any other problems which appear quite common across the board?:)

"Sudden death" I don't hear of that too much at all from any Canon. I have heard of dust on the sensor issues from the G9 but not so much on the G10 (yet:rolleyes: ). I don't know of any real common problems other than that from either camera. I would just say that when you buy your camera make sure that is is from an authorized dealer that has a good return policy (just in case) As with any product, every once in a while a lemon gets out the door, but if you buy it right you should be ok.
There are a couple decent battery suppliers that make Canon replacements with no problems. There are many good testimonials from members here on Diamondback batteries...Just bought 2 for the 40D from them.
