I just got my camera a few days ago and haven't had a chance to use it too much yet but have probably taken around 40-50 photos. The store gave me some batteries with it and they are Panasonic "industrial alkaline" batteries. Everything has been fine most of the time except that today I was taking some pictures and the camera shut off and brought up a message saying to replace the batteries. I got no warning before it shut off though. Then I tried turning it back on and it worked fine and took more pictures without a problem. Does this sound like my camera isn't working right or do you think it has to do with the batteries?
Thanks,
Keith

It's the batteries. Alkaline battery discharge curves aren't appropriate for digital cameras or other devices that need power in spurts; they're better suited to steady loads like radios, etc. Get a set of Eneloop NiMH rechargeables and a good charger - you'll be much happier.

Thanks for quick reply. I am going to order some Eneloop batteries but for the birthday party I am going to tonight I am going to run by Walgreens and get some Duracell NiMH they have. Just glad it isn't my camera at fault. :)

You may be able to get a set of Eneloops at a Costco or Ritz/Wolf's Camera
