To me it seems that the color is somewhat washed out, it may be because of the upload but i don't know. I think they're both really interesting shots overall, but they need more contrast.

I agree with DerekSimon's comment about the contrast...both should could use some contrast and saturation. In addition to that, both shots like tilted...the horizon in that first shot is really off and needs to be straightened. The subject matter of the second shot is interesting enough but the framing seems very awkward to me...the chopped off tops of cars there on the bottom right, the silhouettes of the people crossing the street and again the tilt all seem to detract from this shot.

Looks like it must have been a dull, grubby day in Paris - yes?

The horizon is tilted in both shots (but in different directions.

In the second shot the converging verticals could have been avoided by keeping the camera level or by means of a perspective correction in Photoshop.
