Damaged Filter

I have just dropped my Canon 16-35mm lens on the floor causing damage only to the UV Filter (Thank God), the problem is I can't removed the filter as it took the full inpact from the fall I have tried various ways of removing it without success. All suggestion welcome.

could a hair drier warm and exspand the filter ring to losen it ,just a thought.

Have you tried a set of filter removers obtainable cheaply from photo stores ?

surely heating and expanding would make it even tighter.
