I recently upgraded to cs4, I have cs3 and a few 3rd party plug-ins that I bought that aren't compatible with cs4. So...I was wondering if it was possible to have both versions installed on the same computer.

Has anyone tried this and do they both work fine?

Definitely possible. I've had CS2, CS3 and CS4 installed on one machine.. They work absolutely fine. =)

Depends.
I got a CS4 upgrade from CS2, and cannot start one when the other is running.
i know of another photographer running CS3 and CS4 at the same time fine. Think he's got full versions of both.

ISTR that it also depends on where you installed them.

One thing to remember is that it could bloat your drive with separate Bridge and ACR cache files - one for CS2, CS3 and CS4. That MAY pose a problem for people who have their OS/apps on a small Raptor/short stroked drive.

One day I noticed there was precious free space on my 32 GB Raptor boot drive - enough so that it probably slowed it down. I was alarmed since I only used the OS and apps on this drive - yet it was almost full. Defragging is more difficult. The culprit? Picasa and CS3 cache files were growing!
