Just thought I would give my version of the Supercross at Daytona as another (like the 200 the night before) first for me. Shot with a my 50d and 70-200mm non-is. Is the only answer to the 50d graininess issue to upgrade to 5d or 1d?

Nice shots, I have a Mark III and a 5D and shoot motorsports 70-80 nights a year. The Mark III is by far the better choice.

Would love to have the Mark III, just need to find the money you buy one. Great shots Don. I like #7 a lot!! I am still going through all of mine. Boy did I take a lot of pics.

To me they dont look very grainy at all. Just use a high power flash, High ISO not super high, and correct SS, f/, and WB. I think with those you have a perfect match.

The blacks look a little too black if that makes sense... otherwise nice photos :)

Thanks for the feedback, I think I got a little overly concerned with the grain and bumped the low side of my levels to much to make the grain kind of melt together and ended up with absolute black instead of making it have grey to it where needed. Plus I think my monitor has the contrast levels too low cuz I seem to do that a lot with my images and I send them off to print thinking they are good to go and come out with extreme blacks and blame my printer. Guess I should do some calibration.

I feel you there. And BTW the 1st shot looks amazing.
